This Westchester City Is a Top Place to Buy a House in New York

The rankings are in! Niche, an online database that helps people find suitable schools and neighborhoods, released its 2022 Best Places to Live in America. This Westchester city came in at number one in Niche’s Best Place to Buy a House in the New York City Area list.

Nestled in Northern Westchester County, just 30 miles north of New York City, Chappaqua has been ranked as the best place to buy a house in the New York City area by housing and lifestyle data website Niche. With just a population of a little over 1,400 people, Chappaqua received an A or higher in five Niche categories. The Westchester locale also received a B or higher in nine out of 10 categories.

Horace Greely High School, which received an overall A+ Niche grade, is also located in Chappaqua. The school holds the spot for the second best ranked public high school in Westchester County, according to Niche.

Chappaqua ranks number four out of 893 best places to buy a house in New York and is the fourth best suburb to buy a house in New York. Out of 902 listing, Chappaqua is also ranked 11th in the best places to raise a family in New York.

The next closest Westchester County city ranked on Niche’s Best Place to Buy a House in the New York City Area is Hartsdale. Hartsdale, which is located inside of Greenburgh, is ranked 35 on the list. Ardsley holds the number 47 spot, thus rounding out all the towns in Westchester in the Top 50.

According to Niche, “Living in Chappaqua offers residents a sparse suburban feel and most residents own their homes. In Chappaqua there are a lot of coffee shops and parks. Many families, young professionals, and retirees live in Chappaqua. The public schools in Chappaqua are highly rated.”
